How we spent MLK Day

Yesterday, we went down to Shreveport (in Louisiana) to hear Dr. Ron Paul speechify. It was pretty darn impressive, actually.  There was a rumor that he would be coming on Saturday morning, only confirmed on Saturday evening and we still managed to have hundreds of supporters there to welcome Dr. Paul.

It was a pretty awesome experience, especially for Baby Girl as this is her first year voting, and she’s pretty darn fired up.  It was also an awesome experience for Pooter, only he won’t really appreciate how awesome until he’s a little older.

I have pictures!

What better way to spend MLK day than to see and speak with the man who wants freedom for all of us?

Sadly, he’s got a snowball’s chance of being able to do that. No way in hell he’s getting elected – the media has made sure of that.

It’s not about the man — it’s about the message of liberty. This is more of a movement than a campaign; Ron Paul is just the face.

During his speech, he addressed this, paraphrasing a piece he’d read recently: “One writer even said, ‘I don’t care about that old man, I care about the message!'”

I believe a significant number of Americans, who were previously turned off and dropped out, have been awakened, and have found they’re not alone. I would love to see Ron Paul as President, but this isn’t about personality. It’s about ideas.

When asked about how he was using the internet, he was very surprised and said, “I’m not using the internet. They’re using me!” He knows he’s the vehicle for the message, and the message will continue after the election, no matter who wins.

Oh, and you can’t see it in those pics, but this is the shirt I was wearing:

Who’s the Freak’in Hippie holding the kid? What happened to that Redneck you were showing off back in ’06?

Cool! Sounds like a good day!

HEY! I went to see Ron Paul in Baton Rouge, LA… where are you located?!?

  7. Pookie Says:

Don’t be jealous, Lloyd. I’m not (yet) as “hippie” as Roger, and never will be as hippie as you were 40 years ago. 😉

  8. Dan Says:

What on earth is MLK day?

I could google it, but I prefer to make you do all then work.

  9. Pookie Says:

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday. National holiday in the U.S.

He has zero chance of winning – too bad for all of us.

I’m rooting for Obama, but I’m disgusted with the shameful way the media and the other Republican candidates have treated Ron Paul. His message deserves to be heard and taken seriously.
