Oh, and also, Happy Birthday to Jesus too

Besides being Christmas, today is also my daughter’s 18th birthday. She’s a grown-up. She’s actually been a grown-up for some time now, in terms of maturity. Sure, she has the occasional teenage girl meltdown, but hell, so do I and I’m 38.

I couldn’t be more proud of the kind of person she’s turned out to be.

She has a good heart, she’s kind to children, animals and old folks, she doesn’t take any crap and she’s got a wicked sense of humor.

Also, pretty soon now, she’ll be able to belch the alphabet.

Your typical southern belle, in other words.

Here are some pictures of my very own Christmas miracle.

Happy Birthday and Merry Christmas, Baby Girl.   I’m looking forward to seeing your next 18 years.

My very favorite Christmas video ever.  Bing Crosby and David Bowie.  Gold, baby.  Holiday gold.

Gorgeous girl. Looks relatively normal. Was she raised by Grandparents or wolves?

    *snort*

Have a wonderful Christmas and celebrating your baby’s birthday. In Australia she would be old enough to drink, vote and drive. In that order and on the same day. Scary isn’t it?

Thanks for sharing that video. I read the other day that this performance between Bing Crosby & David Bowie was the last public performance Crosby made. Maybe it was the last performance on his show… I can’t remember the details, just that it was the last something performance. And I thought, “Wow. That would be a strange duet. Crosby and Bowie…ick!” But it was pretty good and kinda touching. 🙂 Thanks!

Godsweigh, that clip is from Bing Crosby’s last Christmas Special, in 1977. It was filmed in August, and Bing died in October.

Bing and Bowie met for the first time on the morning of the taping. They rehearsed for an hour, then recorded it in just three takes. It became an underground/bootleg legend, and was finally released as a single in 1982.

Patsy, if you think she looks all grown up in those pics, you should see some of her new clothes. Gorgeous!
